First Regatta of the 2016 Season!

20160409_115044Are you ready for some sailing?!? ⛵️

Oak Hollow Sailing Club will be kicking off our 2016 season with our first regatta this Saturday, April 16th, at the North Marina, with Captains’ Meeting scheduled for 10:30 a.m.

All sailors who plan to sail should have their boats rigged BEFORE the meeting begins.  Race committee duties are being handled by Phil Andrews, Tait Humphries, Linda Marsh and John Fulcher.  Plan to eat breakfast before you arrive and bring water to drink.

The forecast is for temps to be around 60 degrees during rigging with a high of 68 for the day.   Please dress accordingly. Winds are projected be be 8-13 knots during our race hours.  As we all know, that will probably change significantly before Saturday.

If you plan to sail or want to crew, please go to the link below to sign up on our scratch sheet. Also, for members without boats, the club has Sunfish available for rent (and the City Marina has several for rent), if you are trained and want to skipper your own boat.  Please contact Paul Walter at pewalterjr@yahoo.com to reserve a club Sunfish.  The Sunfish rental fee is waived for students on regatta days.

Interclub Regatta and Annual Awards Banquet

100_04751.pngOHSC members,
Sadly our racing season is winding down. One week from today, on Saturday November 7th, we face off against Lake Townsend Yacht Club on their home water. This is a FUN yet highly competitive event. It would be great for Oak Hollow to bring home the trophy! The NOR is waiting on final approval although it looks like scoring will be changed this year. It’s the low point system in which scores from each club will be totaled and averaged. Every boat counts!
